"Lovely... swam in the River, went to Rivers Restaurant and discovered fruit wine. Our first visit, but definitely not our last. We love the area, especially the National Park at Dorrigo which provides an enriching experience with rainforest flora and fauna. Love the afternoon dips in the river. Directions
Getting to Bellingen and Maddefords Cottages is straight forward. Maddefords Cottages are 2 km from the Bellingen Post Office and on the north side of the Bellinger River.

Coming from the north: Travel 25kms south of Coffs Harbour. Exit the Pacific Highway 3kms north of Urunga (the highway exit passes under a large overpass). Travel west on The Waterfall Way for 11kms until you reach Bellingen. Pass the Butter Factory on your right then slow down for the 40km zone and pass the Yellow Shed on your left. Proceed and turn right in front of the Bellingen Post Office. Continue over Lavender's Bridge to the roundabout. At the roundabout turn right (uphill) and stay on this road for 1.5 kms until you see Maddefords Cottages on your right. Parking is available beside each cottage. <TOP>
Coming from the south: If travelling from the south, exit the Pacific Highway shortly after Urunga (pass the Tourist Information Centre, cross the bridge at Urunga and continue for 1500m). Coming from the west: From Armidale or Dorrigo you descend the steep winding road from Dorrigo to the floor of the Bellinger Valley. You will pass the Thora Store on the left 15kms from Dorrigo. The drive to Bellingen is another 14kms. As you enter Bellingen you will pass The Lodge Cafe Gallery on your left and the War Memorial on the right. Continue along Bellingen's main street (called Hyde Street), pass the Court House on the left and turn left immediately after the Bellingen Post Office. Proceed over Lavender's Bridge to the roundabout. At the roundabout turn right (uphill) and stay on this road for 1.5 kms until you see Maddefords Cottages on your right. Getting to Bellingen. You can travel to Bellingen by air, train, bus or private motor vehicle. Please note the departure times of services listed below may change and you are advised to check with the transport provider directly.
Travelling by air: You arrive at Coffs Harbour Airport, 37 kms north of Bellingen. Arrange in advance to be met at the airport.
Travelling by car: Bellingen is approximately halfway between Sydney and Brisbane. Most people access the area via the Pacific Highway which has been substantially improved in the last few years. Driving time between Bellingen and Sydney is between 6.25 hours and 7 hours depending on breaks (driver reviver stops). The drive time between Brisbane and Bellingen in 5 hours.
Travelling by train and bus: Countrylink's XPT service departs Syndey Central at 7:05am, 11:35am, and 4:24pm each day, arriving at Urunga Train Station (12kms from Bellingen) at 3:05pm, 7:46pm and 12:24am respectively. Premier, Greyhound and McCafferty's buses depart Sydney for Bellingen at 7:00am, 12:30pm, 6:15pm, 6:30pm and 10:30pm daily.
Getting around town. Maddefords Cottages are a 2km walk or cycle to town and many cafés, eateries, shops, a fully equipped gym, a 25m swimming pool, a 9 hole golf course, squash courts, car repairers and much more. Taxis can also be arranged.
Getting to Coffs Harbour. A bus service departs Bellingen for Coffs Harbour from Monday to Friday at 8:00am, 9:30am and 3:30pm (arriving in Coffs at 8:55am, 10:20am and 4:10pm respectively. Taxis can also be used to get to Coffs.
